Fuego Y Candela Salsa Social is a monthly event created by salsa holics Niche Acevedo and Franklin Condori with the purpose of helping the Boston Salsa community flourish. They're looking to help strengthen our already great salsa community. This social provides an evening of non-stop dancing with the best music and best dancers Boston has to offer. For prior socials, Niche and Franklin have invited great DJs from all over the country. So I'm excited and honored to DJ the next event on May 7th.

As a Rhode Island native, I’m excited to be a part of the Salsa Fever family. Salsa Fever Thursdays is run by Carlos Gonzalez from Mambo Pa’ Ti Dance Company, one of the premier instructors and performers out of the Providence area. Held at Rosinha’s Restaurant, Salsa Fever Thursdays is one of the reasons for the continual growth of the Providence salsa community. Although this night has more of a club feel to it, the Providence salseros are cool down to earth catz that make this night the number one salsa spot in the area. I play a bit more bachata and merengue at Salsa Fever than I would at a social but don’t let that fool you. The night is still predominately salsa and I still bring that salsa social feel to my sets. My next night DJing at Salsa Fever will be on Thursday May 12th.

Enigma Salsa Fridays

Enigma Club is brought to you by Salsa Matei Dance School and is located at the heart of Harvard Square in the new exclusive club room at Fire + Ice Restaurant. They offer salsa/bachata/merengue lessons at 9:30pm (lessons change weekly) with social dancing until 2am complete with club lighting, air conditioning, high end speakers embedded throughout the room, and a specially installed new wood floor just for dancers. Not to mention two new swank bars (with reasonably priced drinks), super friendly wait staff, and even appetizers are available from the kitchen in case you get hungry. I’m excited to be part of the DJ rotation, which include DJ D. Martinez, DJ Hernan, DJ Saoco, and DJ Ricardo. All ages are welcome but as you would expect, it’s 21+ at the bar. My next night on the DJ rotation will by May 20th.

Salsa y Control Jam Session Dance Social

The SYC Jam Session Dance Social is run by brothers Johnny and Andres Giraldo, who have brought back the much beloved salsa social to the Boston dance scene with a twist. It's an all-star line up of DJs spinning mostly vinyl!!! No bachata, no merengue and no salsa romantica or commercial pop salsa played at Latin clubs!!! Just straight up Salsa Dura with five DJs rotating on a DJ by committe set. Each DJ follows up the next with a song from their record collection of the best old school salsa, mambo, and chachacha. The fun part is listening to five DJs feed off each other's sellections. It's a one of a kind musical experience for the Boston salsa scene and a collector's dream to play at this event. The next social has been tentatively scheduled for May 22nd. More details to follow.

Nueva Vida Salsa Social
DJ Travieso and I are the resident DJs for Vera’s Nueva Vida Social. Vera has done a wonderful job building the Northern Mass and New Hampshire salsa community. Her socials have included special events featuring Darlin Gracia from Philadelphia and a weekend with Yamulee Dance Company. The 2009 World Salsa Finalist Vera Rowe teaches workshops and regular classes in the Northern Mass and Southern New Hampshire area. ** Please do not wear your street shoes into the ballroom. Dance shoes or only shoes that have not been worn outside in the salt, snow and rain. There will be a place to leave your shoes outside of the ballroom and we will also have a coat check.
